Grow Up
December 2, 2009admin No Comments »Now that health care reform has reached a new level of discourse, Republican Senator Judd Gregg of New Hampshire issued “a how to stop the process” manual to his Republican colleagues. The memo is not a secret; the documents can be read at GOP Bloc
kade Reform that the Huffington Post ran this morning. This so called manual is a breakdown of how to filibuster the debate on health care without actually calling it a filibuster. You may remember Senator Joe Lieberman throwing around the “F” word and threatening to back a GOP filibuster.
First, I would like to say, that I’m no one to talk about mature behavior, but this recommendation of dragging reform to a standstill is soooooo childish. Instead of helping the millions of Americans that need health care, the Republicans again have chosen to hinder the health and incomes of those they represent. Not only does this blockade seem childish it looks desperate. I mean how many more hissy fits will these elected officials (who are grown adults may I remind you), throw in order to get their way? What’s next, the Republican party needs to have nappy time between voting on amendments as well? Obviously I’m not impressed.
Below is from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. It is a simple break down of what is happening and how you can contribute to fight back against the obstructions of the Republican party.
Thanks for reading!

As the health care reform debate finally got under way this week, Republicans began boasting — actually boasting — about their plans to use any and every obscure procedural measure to stall the bill in the Senate. One Republican senator actually wrote an Obstruction Manual on how to stop reform. It’s a step-by-step handbook for other Republican senators on how to filibuster every single aspect of the bill.
Forget debating the merits of the bill, forget about helping people and bringing about real change. The Republican plan is this and this only: delay, deny, and obstruct. The DSCC needs to raise $500,000 by December 31 in order to fight back. Every dollar you give today will be matched by a group of Senators, doubling your impact.
Fight back now. Contribute $5 or more to advance President Obama’s agenda for change.
Republicans and special interest groups are scared. In sixty years, we’ve never been this close to reforming healthcare. But in the coming days and weeks, things are going to get nasty.
For them, this fight isn’t about people. It’s about protecting and serving their own interests. And if they succeed, they will defeat healthcare reform, tear down our majority and defeat President Obama. Please make a contribution to the DSCC today — without it, we won’t have the resources to go toe-to-toe with them.
Fight back now. Contribute $5 or more to advance President Obama’s agenda for change.
Senator John McCain and the national Republicans have already launched targeted attacks against Democrats in key battleground states. They are aggressively mobilizing their base to defeat reform and its Democratic advocates. We CANNOT let these attacks go unanswered.
